Athena Voltaire Sketch for the C2E2 Contest Winner of “Fan of Steve Bryant” Category. 8.5″x11″ Bristol Board.

Congratulations to Andy Tom! Classy of you to pick Steve Bryant’s very own gal, Athena!
Howdy, Folks! Although I won’t be attending C2E2 this year, I am offering 2 different ways for those attending the show to win a Free 8.5″x11″ Inked Sketch by me (check out this page for the specifications). To clarify, 2 participating peeps will win a Free Sketch of his/her choice drawn by me. I will include the shipping also.
HOW TO ENTER: Stop by Steve Bryant’s C2E2 Artist Alley Table, located at the Artist Alley E13. Once there, I’d encourage each of you to interact with this awesome, super-nice-guy independent creator, check out his ware and maybe even purchase somethings. At this point there are two different ways you could become the winner for one of the free sketches:
Method 1: Become the Premier Patron of Steve Bryant’s C2E2 Con Appearance. Steve will be keeping a tally of purchases made with him during the show. Whoever is the largest financial spender at Steve’s table (pre-orders included) for this C2E2 show will be automatically selected for one of the free sketches.
Method 2: Become a Friend of Steve Bryant and his creative endeavors. When you do stop by talk to Steve and get to know about the different properties he is working on, including Athena Voltaire and Ursula Wilde. And then, most importantly take a photo of you and Steve (hugs & kisses are optional
. Then you have 1 week after the show to contact me in one of the published methods of contact (e-mail me, use my contact form, tweet me, message me via Facebook, etc.). The more creative the photo, the more pleasure it would be for me but will not increase your chance for winning. One random person will be selected to win and receive the free sketch.
That’s pretty much it! Have fun at the show folks, and thanks for stopping by Steve’s table and showing some much-deserved love for my friend.
First of all, if you haven’t checked out Athena Voltaire, you’re missing out on one of the most pulpy comic book goodness of our time. Created by my friend and collaborator, Steve Bryant, the books unveil the story of an adventure-bound aviatrix who encounters all sorts of mysteries in the veins of Indiana Jones.
When Athena was named the theme for ComicTwart contributors, an art blog made up of several fantastic industry artists, I jumped at the chance to do my own play-along version. What you may notice on my inked version of “Athena Voltaire vs. Anubis’ Army of Mummies” is that Anubis’ body is solid black unlike the pencils. During the inking stage, I noticed that the details of his body contour was distracting and the solid black helped frame Athena better as the focus center.
Finished piece inked solid and with a bit of ink wash on 11″x17″ Bristol board.
Well, I have permanently decided to put aside the CBI3 assignments. All the controversies over voting improperly reflecting true talents at the main contest… I don’t think that the “Play-at-Home” threads are really getting any real attention from the editors and judges. Not that I’m complaining about that aspect… as it’s only fair that the main attention needs to be given to the guys in the competition.
The decision really came more from me finally stopping myself from this personal emotional roller-coaster of an event and get my butt back in gear with some real offers already on the table for me by guys like Kevin Grevioux (Underworld, New Warriors, etc.), Mike San Giacomo (Phantom Jack) and Steve Bryant (Athena Voltaire).
