Another commission involving my interpretation of a published cover – John Carter, Warlord of Mars, Issue 1. When an avid collector of Edgar Rice Burroughs Mars artwork approached me about this project, I was thrilled to try my hand at drawing follow-up to my recent attempt at creating my interpretation of ERB’s Barsoom.
As mentioned in posted in an earlier post, I tried my hand at illustrating my own interpretation of the Edgar Rice Burroughs’ vision for the characters, working entirely from his text in Princess of Mars.

The Work-In-Progress pencils of my Princess of Mars illustration. I’ve been itching to try my own interpretation of the Edgar Rice Burroughs’ vision for the characters, working entirely from his text in Princess of Mars. Although it was challenging, I did the best I could to shy away from becoming influenced by other existing interpretations, including the latest Disney’s movie John Carter.
